UC Berkeley Extension students may consider private education loans. If you choose to utilize private student loans, please note that loans are limited to the cost of course fees only. Loans are not available for materials or the cost of living.
When a student has been approved for a loan they will need to submit both a Loan Certification Request and an Enrollment Request form (links below). Upon receipt of the certification request by the University from the lender, we will enroll and invoice you in the requested courses, certify your loan for exactly that amount and apply the funds to your account when received by the lender.
When and if you pursue private loans, please use the following links for the required forms.
Please complete the UC Berkeley Extension Loan Certification Form
Please submit the Enrollment Request Form for the courses you'd like to enroll in.
Upon receipt of the above forms and your loan certification request from the lender, we will enroll you in your requested courses, invoice you for the course fees, and certify your loan for the exact amount of your course fees. The loan disbursement will be paid directly to your UC Berkeley Extension account.
If you are enrolled in UC Berkeley Extension's Concurrent Enrollment Program, please submit only the UC Berkeley Extension Loan Certification Form linked above. Provided all requirements are met, your loan will be certified after the add/drop deadline for the term.
If you have questions or need assistance with the private loan process, please contact extension@berkeley.edu.
